Comments on "Nissan Leaf vs. the Chevy Volt"

I own a volt. The ...
I own a volt. The gas generator does not charge the battery. That would be considered a foolish waste of gas. The only way to charge the battery, in my experience, is to plug it in. I've noticed that the regenerative braking and coasting down hill will occasionally add a few miles to the battery when driving in the mountain mode. But that is a rare? occasion.

These are two ...
These are two different cars. The volt is an extended range electric car. It runs on battery for about 35 to 40? miles and then switches to a gas generator. The generator simply sends electricity to the electric motors that power the vehicle. So there is no range anxiety. Given the absolute lack of public charging stations I would not buy a leaf. The leaf runs on battery only and when the battery dies you need a tow truck. My volt runs on battery 70 percent of the time.

They've already ...
They've already done? testing for the LEAF and stated: Batteries will have 80% capacity after 5 years of use & 70% after 10 years of use. IMO, maintenance and chances of a "break down" are a lot "HIGHER" for a gas engine. Reason being? not only do you have an alternator that can go bad, but you have belts, spark plugs, distributor caps, an numerous other things "extra" that can go wrong.. but, only time will tell. a Lithiom-ION is a lot different than a traditional 12V car battery.

i hate it when my ...
i hate it when my alternater breaks and i'm running my car off my s**tty battery already. i dont think i am going to feel better when my car ONLY runs on a battery. call me a hatter? or the enviroment but i'll wait until something more dependable comes out.

leaf? is for soccer ...
leaf? is for soccer moms and volt his for b***hes

Interesting... user ...
Interesting... user "aikeno7777" is just a "regular guy" and posted below but if you click on his username his "Channel is not available". That could mean he is underage (and not exactly informed yet) or he is one of those paid liars. Actually, paid liars (from big oil) spend more time posing as "regular guys" who love horsepower, smoke, etc. Swapping a depleted battery for a charged battery and paying for Just the Charge makes? sense (see my post, below) but Oil Companies hate and block it.

You are? absolutely ...
You are? absolutely right!!!

we're still trying ...
we're still trying to ween ourselves off gas. while some may be able tp go cold turkey and use an electric car? right away, i believe the volt is a good transition until we reach the point, technology wise, when we can go cross country in a full electric vehicle.

volt does not ...
volt does not compete with the leaf,GM dropped the ball? with ev1 There could have been charging stations every where now had GM not dropped the ball.

i cant drive to my ...
i cant drive to my parents place? for holidays in the leaf,, leaf looses

its? no regular ...
its? no regular hybrid like prius it can go as much a leaf on electric power then goes on gas its almost the same but your not always nervous in the volt since you have backup gas

SIMPLY PUT, if you ...
SIMPLY PUT, if you already have one gas car in the family the Leaf is a good choice for? a second car. I'm a single guy with only one car in my arsenal so the Leaf would be a bad purchase in the fact that I can't go long range, So the Volt is a better fit for single car families, or individuals.

Are you f**kin' ...
Are you f**kin' nuts? The LEAF gets 77 Miles on a charge which is, as they keep saying, its only source, so after that, you are f**ked. On the other? hand, the Volt has 44 Miles on a charge PLUS about 330 miles on a tank of gasoline. You don't have to be worrying about running out of power and having to wait ten hours for it to charge back up.

That fact that the ...
That fact that the Volt can be your only car it wins by default. For 90% of your driving it will run solely on electric power. For longer trips it uses a gas generator for recharging the batteries. The Leaf can't take longer trips unless it is being towed or you? like taking 3 days to travel 300 miles.

1. Build battery ...
1. Build battery swap stations instead of battery charge stations (click on my username to see a demo-video, then click PLAYLISTS) a Leaf could be the ONLY car you might own. 2. STOP subsidizing oil companies with taxpayer money (We pay a Higher Rate than large companies AND their Boards and Executives pay). 3. Wrestle away the battery patents. ExxonMobil snatched patents from companies that BigOil lobbied Congress to? let die... Electric faster? YES, Maintenance? LESS. It's Profit v. Planet

There are more and ...
There are more and more public charging stations popping up in the US all the time. Many of the Cracker Barrel restaurants have fast charge charging stations that you can use to charge your Leaf to near 100% in the time it would take to read the menu, order your meal, eat your meal, pay for your meal and browse the store. Likewise the Leaf's Nav? will let you know if someone near by has a charging station at their home that they are willing to let EV owners use.

Range anxiety won't ...
Range anxiety won't fly with the Leaf in the states unless its? a second car....

What do you do if ...
What do you do if you want to go more than 80 miles in the Leaf? You have to stop for hours to recharge. At least with the Volt you can run the battery? off of gasoline for longer trips.

Who has? money to ...
Who has? money to buy a Leaf, also has to solar panel. Leaf is 99% recyclable, Batteries will be bought by Nissan after 10 years. Next year will have autonomy of 300? km. Good energy is energy produced at home.

personally i would ...
personally i would pick the leaf cuz it has much more mileage, but the chevy yea it looks good but it dosent have the dame amount of electrical? mileage as the leaf.

2nd chick? was hotter

? Everyone makes ...
? Everyone makes good cars. except for the French.

Only Europe and ...
Only Europe and Japan? make good cars.

Chevrolet destroyed ...
Chevrolet destroyed the EV1 and it wasn't from a lack of quality or consumer interest.. do some research. GM made the? first modern electric car and everyone that leased it loved it, unfortunately they never let anyone buy out their lease and took all their cars back and crushed them themselves, just like the chrysler turbine.

Lol's will be had , ...
Lol's will be had , when the chevy has engine trouble after 40 miles when it goes for a 150mile out of town trip, that could have been done in? a leaf.

funny they picked ...
funny they picked an not so pretty chick to show the nissan and the hot chick to show off the? volt, the nissan needing very dark windows so not to be seen riding it.

Volt 40 grand+ ...
Volt 40 grand+ leaf close to 40 grand=both rich? peoples toys

Excellent ..? Volt ...
Excellent ..? Volt owner 2501

Volt? looks better ...
Volt? looks better but has less head room. Volt charges quicker on 240 but does not have DC quick charge. Volt has better cargo loading configuration but costs more in the end. Volt is available now Leaf is not.
